I chose to conduct a physical site visit to Jalan Tun H.S. Lee as I was interested in knowing its distinctive contexts
My friends who chose the same traditional street as me planned a day to conduct the site visit together
We went to Jalan Tun H.S Lee in the morning and stayed until late afternoon to observe the environment and activities
After conducting the site visit, I then proceeded to sketch out the tangible and intangible features of Jalan Tun H.S. Lee
I also listened to my tutor's feedback every tutorial to get a clearer vision on how to continue my sketching
reflection
From this assignment, I'm able to demonstrate understanding of place contexts and how they construct the place identity and socio-cultural meanings, and discuss the relationship between architecture and its social, cultural, and intellectual context within the Asian region.
This is my first time conducting a physical site visit where I'm required to observe the surrounding and come out with a sketch journal. I learnt how to do proper site visit and was able to understand more about Jalan Tun H.S. Lee.
As they were many things to sketch I've learnt on how to manage my time wisely and the importance to plan things well beforehand for the progression of my work to be done smoothly as there were many drawings that I need to produce although the time given for this assignment is plenty.
I learnt on how to translate visuals I see into drawings and I'm able to provide a clear understanding for viewers of my drawings by providing clear explanations and detail drawings I learnt from Youtube videos and google images.
