GEOMETRY AND FORM: ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN ELEMENTS AND PRINCIPLES
The design project introduces basic understanding of the design principles, processes and approaches in generating ideas, developing design and translating it into form in a workshop based explorative studio. The project encourages students to tap into critical and creative side through modes exploring design principles every week and applied into your tattoo stamps and models.

STRUCTURE AND BODY: MATERIAL, ANTHROPOMETRIC AND ERGONOMIC EXPLORATION
Students will be working with bamboo and understand the nature and characteristics of the materials and how they are to be used in design with basic knowledge in construction. Students will explore about the construction details, e.g., joints, joinery and structural quality. The next step is to amalgamate their design intention (learned from project 1) and structure into the 1:1 scale construction with anthropometry and ergonomics.

SPACE AND SENSORY: SELF EXPLORATION THROUGH SPACES
Students will look back at their structure (Project 2) and further develop it to a sensory space to anticipate and accommodate users’ needs and emotions. They will identify a dominant theme from their understanding of design elements and principles (from Project 1 and 2) and enhance the structure to create a poetic architectural representation and their own reinterpretation of their structure through a series of spaces. Students will explore the design with chosen materials such as timber, steel or concrete. Their sensitivity to the articulation and mastery of spatial experience should ignite a sensorial experience for yourself to express the personal emotions as a first-year student in university.
